Rodin – Maillol, Face to Face
|||||||||||
The Hyacinthe Rigaud Museum of Art presents an exhibition conceived as an absolutely unprecedented dialogue between the two great sculptors who left their mark on modern art: Aristide Maillol and Auguste Rodin.
If historiography easily opposes the work of these two great sculptors as a symptom of a change of century, the exhibition aims to overcome this division to highlight the dialogue that will be established between these two great men. If Rodin and Maillol both revolutionized sculpture, they knew how to exchange, dialogue and feed their art with the admiration of the other.
The scenography emphasizes the dialogues between the works of these two sculptors. It highlights their differences but also the strength of their art which opened the door to modernity.
