Ilya Kabakov

Ilya Kabakov is a Russian conceptual painter. His art owes an important part to Marcel Duchamp, who was the first to discover that art does not necessarily rely on a plastic support, but can be inspired by an idea. Insolent idea, disembodied thought which gives birth to objects. Marcel Duchamp had decided that the idea, the “cosa mentale” became the work of art.
This work was produced in June 1985 on the occasion of Ilya Kabakov's first personal exhibition at the Galerie Dina Vierny in Paris
