“If we ask Rimbert if he considers himself a naive painter, he modestly responds: “let’s say, self-taught”. Uhde described him thus in 1933: he and Jean Eve are the only ones today who still practice a profession outside of painting but although he is a post office worker, his life entirely in his silent and solemn paintings which are few, ripen like beautiful fruits in the sun of his heart”.
